An acreage move is not a bigger version of a subdivision move. The driveway alone can decide whether a full size truck is even the right vehicle for the job.

The driveway question comes first

A lot of acreages east of Sherwood Park and around Fort Saskatchewan sit at the end of a long gravel lane, sometimes with a tight turn or a low spot that holds water in spring. We ask about the driveway surface and length before we ever quote a truck size.

Where a full size truck cannot safely turn around, we bring a smaller vehicle and shuttle loads, rather than finding that out with the truck already stuck.

More than just the house

Acreage moves often include a machine shed, a workshop, or a barn on top of the house itself. Tools, equipment, and anything left in an outbuilding get the same walk through as the kitchen and the bedrooms.

Livestock and animals are not something we move, but we plan the schedule around a family who does need to handle that separately on the same day.

Weather changes the plan

A gravel lane that is fine in August can be a mess in April, and a driveway that was solid in the fall can be a sheet of ice by December. We check conditions the morning of a rural move and adjust the truck and the timing if we need to.

Snow on the ramp is a normal part of winter here, and the crew carries ice mats and extra traction gear on every acreage job between November and March.

What to expect on the day

The crew arrives with a plan for where the truck parks, how far the carry is from the house to the truck, and whether a second smaller vehicle is needed to bridge a long lane. None of that gets figured out for the first time on move day.

By the time we leave, the new place is set up the way you asked, and the old acreage is checked room by room, shed included, before the truck pulls out.

Booking an acreage move

Rural moves take a little longer to quote than a standard house because of the driveway and outbuilding questions. Send us photos of the lane and the yard ahead of time and we can give you a much closer estimate before the crew ever drives out.
